Sandringham Youth Club Netball Association (SYCNA) was established in 1987 with three founding clubs, Hampton Hammers, Sandy Starlets and St Finbar’s providing girls the opportunity to play netball in the Bayside area.
In 2013 SYCNA became incorporated and changed its operating name to Sandringham and District Netball Association (SDNA) to reflect its membership base outside of Sandringham. SDNA has grown from its humble beginnings to become a large association with a high participation rate and provides opportunities through a variety of programs and competitions for individuals to play netball from the age of 5 years all the way to Open Age competition. The Thomas Street complex is the only venue in Bayside that has netball courts available to all our user groups to train and play competition.
In recent years, with the ever-increasing growth of the Association, restrictions have had to be placed on eligible members who now must live, work or attend school within the Bayside Council boundary area. There are currently 12 affiliated Clubs that make up the SDNA netball community, with more than 2000 members.
SDNA is entering a period of resurgence, with a new Board and a clear vision for the future of the Association. Having been instrumental in Bayside Council securing funding for an exciting new netball facility, work is commencing now to firmly establish SDNA as the Association and representative program of choice in our region.
